It depends on how much you fill it. The 50L waterproof travel backpack is large, but the roll-down top closure allows you to adjust its size to your needs. Unlike a hard-shell suitcase that either fits or doesn’t fit into overhead compartments, the backpack’s size depends on it’s content. If you fill it to the top, it won’t be suitable as carry-on luggage. However, if you fill it halfway, you can use it as a carry-on without any issues. This has been done many times before. How big is this waterproof backpack? It is big. Backpack has more than enough room to pack everything you need for a few days. You can easily store 4-6 wetsuits inside. It can store motorbiking boots together with all your other protection and motorcycle suit. If you are going on a trip you can store all you clothes for the trip together with laptop, drone, camera, a couple of lenses, and a dome port.  At the same time, with the roll down top and by tightening the side straps you can make is smaller. If your main concern is to keep your camera gear dry then yes, DryTide waterproof travel backpack can be used as a camera backpack. It will stop the water, sand and dust, it has enough pockets to keep everything organised, lots of room for all your equipment and it is comfortable to carry. It is however not a camera specific backpack that would offer internal cushioning and special compartments for your camera body and lenses. This backpack allows you to carry wet gear inside it, this is why internal padding was not used when constructing the backpack. If you need added protection we suggest to get a separate camera cube insert that you can put inside the backpack. CLOSING INSTRUCTIONSTo close the backpack: Align the top edges and tightly roll down the top at least three times. Buckle the ends to the sides of the backpack for less waterproof protection, or buckle them together for more waterproof protection. For detailed instructions on closing and using DryTide bags, please refer to this article. CARE AND USE The backpack floats on water but it is not meant for prolonged submersion. If there is a danger of falling into the water, make sure that the roll down top is closed as tightly as possible and that the ends are buckled together, not to the sides. Keep solvents and liquids like insect repellents away from the backpack. Keep the backpack away from extreme heat and sharp objects. Even though the backpack is made out of tearproof and durable material sharp objects like thorns, needles etc… can puncture the material. Rinse the backpack with fresh water when it is dirty or after use in the sea – continuous salt deposits can jam the zippers.
