There are tiny nail marks in and around the rosette, small, insignificant, honest playing wear. She was played, so this is expected, photographed to show this nail rash to the best of our ability. The back and sides are stellar looking. She’s also a tremendous guitar, setup somewhat moderate, where I feel she is playing just about perfectly. Of course, the guitar has been polished and cleaned, fretboard and frets cleaned and oiled. The guitar has sat in her case for a number of years, all well maintained. She plays very well, with a big fat round sound, one that you expect from a guitar such as this. Marcelino is a meticulous builder, one of the oldest living builders in Spain. The guitar is very straightforward in every regard. The woods are straight-grained. The Rosewood has checking in the pores throughout, in the old Spanish style of allowing the varnish to soak, instead of trying to fill the pores with pumice and shellac. There is no fancy binding work, again all very straightforward. It’s all about the sound and the play. ______________________ Media Listening with high quality headphones or audio equipment is highly recommended including EQ manipulation, if possible. We record everything flat with just a touch of Reverb (less than 10%) to relieve dryness. My goal is to record the guitar as realistically as is possible. I speak in the recordings, my thoughts about the guitar (and possibly other things?). My speaking also serves to give you my first impressions and to also give you a balance of the engineering (or lack thereof) versus the sound of the guitar. I simply do not have time to engineer much of anything. Thanks.
